Excess Baggage, Tallinn, Estonia, 20th-22nd March 2013 (posted 25th March 2013)

So my Masters class has just returned from a show in Tallinn. The show was titled Excess Baggage and saw 15 Irish based artists with mixed background and disciplines and working with emerging technologies, travelling to Estonia to present a pop up exhibition in the Estonian Academy of Arts Gallery and the Design and Architecture Gallery. Each artist carried their work with them and travelled on a direct, low budget flight.

I'm still digesting what was a series of bizarre, hilarious, lovely, cold, warm, stressful, delicious, diplomatic and salty experiences, and the video installation I showed will form my final year show so lots to mull over there. I also showed a new set of work, Pellet in what I believe will be its final form. That in itself has opened up a new (and to be honest, very personally challenging) avenue of work for me.

So it's onwards and upwards to the final year show in June! And if you're looking for somewhere very funky, interesting and inexpensive for a city break, I can't recommend Tallinn enough. Wonderful place.
