Archetype is a site-specific installation exploring the relationship between motherhood and bereavement, and the often hyper-ridiculous media representations of female grief and hysteria. The work consists of an 8 screen multimedia and sound piece utilising networks to syncronise multiple different feeds in conversation with each other. It calls on appropriated footage from soap operas and horror movies to investigate the tropes and stereotypes of the unhinged female in the wake of child-loss, and the inherent representation of an inevitable fall into madness
Archetype was shown as a solo exhibition at Garter Lane Arts Centre Waterford from August to October 2017
